Definition

  • “Flame-retardant”/ “Flame resistance”: understood to be resistant to catching on fire, but level of resistance varies
  • Implied meaning: self-extinguishing
  • “Flame-retardant” does NOT mean noncombustible
  • Risk still present in materials (but lower than in other materials)¹

Applications
