Nefeli Georgoulia

I come from Greece, where I completed my undergrad on Physics at the University of Crete. I spent two years in Amsterdam, where I got a masters on Biophysics. For my master thesis I worked for 1 year at the biological soft matter (Koenderink) group at the AMOLF institute for atomic and molecular physics. There, I was entrusted with the task of squeezing actin (a biopolymer of the cytoskeleton) into microfabricated boxes. This got me very interested into polymer confinement effects. What are the dominant forces into confined polymer networks, keeping in mind that biological polymers are not inert but have a negative surface charge... This is a question that I still ask myself every day.... I hope to get to the bottom of it by the end of the semester!
