Materials have different cohesive energies, defined as the energy associated with the intermolecular attractive interactions within a unit volume of material. Generally speaking, materials with similar cohesive energies are more likely to dissolve each other. PDMS devices can swell when meet with such solvents, resulting in application problems. Ref. [1] discussed this effect in different solvents in detail and also demonstrated the approach to eliminate this effect.
